The millarwest team are excited to announce the launch of our brand new website!
From desks to storage to chairs, the millarwest 2nd User website is your one-stop shop for high quality, second hand office furniture.
We approached Visualise – a Norwich-based web design company – to create a fully responsive website for our business. Visualise had previously designed and developed our main website, millarwest Office Interiors, so we were confident in their abilities. We wanted to update our 2nd User website, incorporating a shopping cart facility to meet with modern e-commerce demands. After further discussing our brief, Visualise got down to business!
First, they began work on the homepage for our website.
Visualise created a checkerboard design for the homepage, with each square promoting a different category: desks, chairs, storage, etc. Each segment features a large image of the item. This allows our customers to easily navigate the website to find the page that meets their needs.
Each segment includes a clickable banner with a call-to-action. This encourages visitors to explore different pages, while also making it easier to navigate our website, especially on mobile. Visualise also added a cool roll-over animation to the banner!
It was really important to us that we promoted our main business throughout the website. Therefore, Visualise added a promotional banner to the foot of the page, directing customers to our main site. They incorporated the banner throughout the other pages to further advertise millarwest Office Interiors.
The shopping cart facility was the biggest change to the original website.
The development of responsive design allowed Visualise to create a online shopping cart. Now our customers can browse our furniture online, then simply click the “add to cart” button to purchase the item. This is far quicker and easier than before, when customers had to email or call us directly! Also, you can clearly view their items at the checkout to ensure you are happy with your choices.
Also, the products are far easier to view than before. Previously, they were arranged in long, never-ending lists that were confusing to read. Also, the icons were quite small and difficult to view. However, the new design is far more user friendly. The results are spread clearly over numerous pages with large, clear icons. Also, the description for the items can be viewed by clicking on the icons, rather than the details getting muddled on the same page.
Visualise added a few more bespoke touches to the design.
For example, they added a blog page so we can update customers with news and exclusive deals – just like we are now! They also added a “latest items” shortcut to the footer. This regularly updates so you can see the newest furniture we have in stock. We really love the final design, and we hope you do too. Click here to explore our responsive website.
